Government Corruption Exposed!

Contrary to the bankster blab besmirching the public sphere, government corruption is not due to the inefficiency inherent in government as opposed to the private sector. Often at the heart of the corruption is indebtedness to private profiteers and their ongoing offensive to keep policy-making pliable to their interests.

With the economic downturn that began in the late 1960’s and early 70’s having now caught up with working people around the globe, we can feel the bad times more than our parents did. In Europe and North America, wealth was spread spuriously to keep working people fooled into contentment with an economic abundance. This was fueled by post WWII reconstruction.

It came to a halt in the 1960’s, sparking that the wealthiest of the rich and their henchmen would re-double efforts to safeguard profit-making. They infiltrated even more deeply to influence institutions of government around the globe.

To that end in the early 1970s the Tri-lateral Commission was formed by the likes of David Rockefeller of Rockefeller fortune fame, Henry Kissinger, Zbigniew Breszinski and others. They united the richest people on Earth and their political henchmen in Europe, Japan and North America to instigate institutional polices perpetuating profits for the long haul. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990’s the New World Order envisioned by this group has gone into high gear. Locking in the hegemony of the elite as the rulers of a one world government sounds outlandish. Yet through free trade agreements and the World Trade Organization the agenda is picking up steam. Politicians bought by campaign contributions, groomed by handlers and committed to their agenda are the only ones given a chance at reaching powerful office.

The Free Trade Agreements are creating a de facto new form of government. National constitutions of signatory states are over-ridden as are other laws and mercantilist law on behalf of profit-making reigns supreme. This government corruption, in which corporate profits are priority above public interest, has become the dominant rule. In today’s world political power in North America and much of Europe is simply bought and sold. The highest bidder takes all. This is certainly not lost on U.S. President Barak Obama who won office with nearly $15 million from Wall Street as part of his $750 million raised fro the 2008 election. Although Obama has recently handed harsh words to brokerage firms his economic Cabinet bulges with boys from these same companies and the private banks of the Federal Reserve.

Big executives from bailout beneficiaries had advanced tickets to Obama’s late October fundraising event in New York. Bloomberg News reported on October, 20, 2009 that, “President Barack Obama will host a $30,400-per couple fundraiser in New York City tonight, seeking donations from the financial services industry that he has criticized and said needs more regulation.”

As long as political systems are run on money, detaining the decline of corrupt policy making for financial interests is impossible. As of writing, it appears that things were in fact expected to get even worse rather than better. A ruling pending from the Supreme Court is expected to take steps toward the removal all limits on corporate contributions.

In the fall of 2009, the highest court in the United States listened to arguments in Citizens United v. the Federal Elections Commission, in which a lobby group sued over limits placed on campaign ads smearing smeared Hilary Clinton in the 2008 elections. The Court is expected to remove at least some of the bans on advocacy and lobbying spending currently in place.

An attorney at the non-profit Campaign Legal Center, Paul Ryan, commented that, "The average person should be concerned that a Court decision striking down the ban on business corporation political expenditures will result in a flood of corporate money into the electoral arena that will drown the average person's political speech."

Obama Deception Dulls Public Outrage on Poisonous Policies

I think it’s safe to say that the majority of you readers, and in fact the majority of the planetary population, held high hopes for the new United States President, Barack Obama. He championed change and promised to restore respect to international affairs. Perhaps his hand to shape insurance reform to benefit big insurance companies is awakening more of you, (like it is me), to the Obama deception which has occurred.

The candidate promised to not accept political lobbying money. But he accepted just as many big checks as small checks. Nearly $15 million swelled his campaign coffers from banks and securities companies alone. (You can see for yourself at http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/indus.php?cycle=2008&cid=N00009638.) No wonder Wall Street wonders fill his economic cabinet.

Little doubt remains that you and I and much of the planet were fed up with 8 years of the Bush Cheney regime. Under the billowing smoke of 9/11 they moved quickly to gut the U.S. Constitution and intensify a surveillance state at home.

Meanwhile, around the globe, this dithering duo delved to deeper depths of U.S interventionism, most notably with the start of the Oil Wars of the 21st Century draped in lean lies. How many of you remember when they found the Weapons of Mass Destruction found in Iraq? Oh yeah, there weren’t any.
But if you think that USA Incorporated began and ended with the last White House think again. The new man on Pennsylvania Avenue has just the face that was needed. Let’s be clear here. People who were up in arms, now have their arms crossed expecting essential transformations of U.S. policies as promised. But it’s the same deep pockets that provide the political menu to Americans at the polls.

The Center for Responsive Politics explains it as, “…a revolving door that shuffles former federal employees into jobs as lobbyists, consultants and strategists just as the door pulls former hired guns into government careers. While members of the executive branch, Congress and senior congressional staffers spin in and out of the private and public sectors, so too does privilege, power, access and, of course, money.”
It is not the elected officials and the functionaries they hire that make policies in response to voters’ needs. If you really thought the long time U.S. senator-turned-president would be any different, I’m afraid you swallowed the Obama deception whole.

Of course it is true that the election of an African American of fairly humble origins does indeed show that any American can be elected president. Anyone that is, if they are willing to do the bidding of the economic elite.
Only 1% of Americans control nearly 40% of the wealth and this 1% does whatever it can to keep it that way. They are the ones calling the shots when it comes to policies that affect their interests. Thus it should come as no surprise that Obama’s cabinet includes Bush and Clinton Administration hand-me downs as well as numerous Wall Street insiders and policy hacks. Promises of pulling out of the North American Free Trade Agreement, affordable health care for all Americans and pulling out of the Oil Wars worked to win public hope.

But Obama is a champion of chump change alone, a fine facelift to the corporate globalist agenda to immense profits off the sweat of working people. The Obama deception is just the latest move by the wealthy wielders of real power. A kinder gentler figure serves as a façade for the same policies. Are we ready to be complacent?
